Earlier this evening Apple confirmed that co-founder Steve Jobs has passed away.
Having battled pancreatic cancer since 2004, and only leaving his position as CEO shortly over a month ago, his health had noticeably deteriorated over the past couple of years. He leaves behind him a vast legacy of innovative concepts and products that have drastically changed and improved the way we live.
In an official statement released via the Apple website, the company said:
‘Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.’
Jobs is survived by wife Laurene Powell Jobs and his four children.
